Is it lost in America?

Shell and I have flown on many different airlines in the world.  Some are nice and relaxing while others are accidents waiting to happen.  The top airline thus far has been Singapore Airlines. . . until now!  Our experience on BA totally shocked us.  They are miles ahead of other airlines in the quality of their service.  They made our plane trip something we will never forget just because they took pride in their service from the pilot over the intercom to the woman at the ticketing counter.  Yet for some reason I think they are doing exactly what used to be a standard in the service industry.
This entry is not just about an oober cool airline.  It is about something that I think has been lost in many American businesses.  Have you ever been in a place and felt like just asking someone to do their job was a huge inconvenience to them and that you should feel grateful they even look at you at all?

It is a shame that we are now totally shocked when someone does their job with a real smile and some warmth.  Don't get me wrong, I know everyone has bad days here and there.  However this prevailing feeling always shocks me when I come back to my home country from abroad.  It's a feeling of a failing work ethic and loss of pride in ones job.  Is it that no matter where we work we feel we deserve something better and let this attitude permeate our service?

Think of some of the places that you go around San Diego.  Are there any that stand out to you as having great service?  These are the places I want to give my business to during these hard times.  Who knows, maybe by encouraging these establishments others might catch on.  When you think of some go ahead and leave a comment on this post so that we can all reward that virtue of true pride in ones work.

I don't think anyone will be ordering any large quantities of paper, but I just had amazing customer service by the company we use for paper, today. Kelly Paper in Escondido is SOOOOO great! Just FYI...

Oh...and I used to know an amazing Flower Shop, but I think they went out of business...bummer!

J & S- I am visiting your blog!!! I liked your Christmas songs too.
Go to Jimbo's in 4-S Ranch- good service. They gave me $5.00 towards my order from a gift card the previous customer didn't use up all the way! This was just before Christmas too, so that was better!
They smile a lot in there too and have great sandwiches that aren't that much $ for what you get!
later,
your Mom : )
